GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ (March 31, 2022)(CNBNewsnet)--On Friday, March 25, 2022, at 03:26 PM, Gloucester Township Police Department Retail Theft Detectives were advised by Target Store Security that a serial shoplifting duo who previously hit several retail stores in the Camden / Gloucester / Burlington County areas were actively shoplifting at the Gloucester Township Target Store. Officers were dispatched to the Target Store on Berlin-Cross Keys Road to intercept the suspects.
Retail Theft Detective provided updates by radio to arriving officers that the male suspect dropped all of the merchandise at the Target entrance and ran towards an awaiting vehicle. As the suspect entered a silver SUV, arriving officers located it fleeing from Target’s parking lot. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a male suspect, later identified as Berron West from Gibbstown, fled from the vehicle across the parking lot. The female driver, later identified as Ashely Winters from Greenwich Township, fled from the area in her vehicle and was later apprehended.
The male was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit and was charged with various crimes associated with the theft in Gloucester Township.
Berron West was charged with Shoplifting (3rd degree) and Obstruction (4th degree). West was also a fugitive out of Delaware County, Pennsylvania and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility in accordance with New Jersey bail reform. Ashley Winters was charged with Eluding and Shoplifting (3rd degree).
