THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY: FOUND MONEY

Dorothy Philbin | CNBNews Contributor GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ-(March 29, 2022)--It looks as though we're in for another municipal (city) tax increase. Are we shocked? I doubt it. I found something, actually several somethings, that should shock every taxpayer, though. I'm finishing work on my cousin's estate and before closing it I thought I would check the state database for unclaimed property. The good news is I found $68 I didn't know I had and $2,100 I didn't know my cousin had and then...I looked into Gloucester City. Here is where we might be shocked and angry. Why are our politicians talking about raising taxes when there are twenty-one unclaimed accounts for Gloucester City and/or various departments? These accounts are old. The asset, usually money, was abandoned by the owner of the account and after a few years, it is turned over to the state treasury. The state tries to find... Read more →

Guest Opinion: Tell the FTC to Lower Drug Costs by Examining PBM Business Practices

graphic courtesy of AMAC By AMAC Action AMAC Action is excited to announce a significant initiative for our members and friends. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is asking for comments concerning the business practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBM). This is a significant development given that many Americans are familiar with PBM entities like, CVS Caremark, Optum Rx, and Express Scripts, but know very little about how they operate. AMAC Action has been calling for PBM business transparency for 4 years to expose the legal “safe harbor” that exists for these organizations. This safe harbor allows pharmacy benefit managers to charge drug manufacturers excessive fees to access the millions of insured lives that PBMs control. These fees find their way back to consumers, including Medicare beneficiaries, in the form of high drug costs. These fees are anti-competitive and distort the free market which should be the deciding factor in determining... Read more →

NYC's In-School COVID Testing Program Cost $30 Million a Month, Is It Still Worth The Cost?

Gloucestercitynews.net graphic files Alex Zimmerman, Chalkbeat New York Mar 22, 2:17pm EDT As New York City peels back virus safety measures in schools, including mask mandates and social distancing guidelines, one tool remains in place: its in-school COVID testing program that swabs a slice of each school community every week. But that program comes at a significant cost, roughly $30 million a month on average, Chalkbeat has learned, raising questions among some public health experts about whether it is the best use of resources to protect school communities from the coronavirus. Some epidemiologists said the current level of surveillance testing can be valuable, with the city aiming to test at least 10% of students at each school every week. As the city rolls back some mitigation measures, and with another virus surge potentially on the horizon, regular testing can provide a check that the virus remains under control in the... Some lucky and smart ones may earn really huge sums. Therefore, online casinos and companies that represent them are of high popularity. Nonetheless, sometimes your access is limited. It is always better to select casinos not on GamStop. Gamcare, UKGC, and other associations have developed a special initiative called Gamstop.
