TRAFFIC ALERT: I-76 westbound shoulder closure next week in Camden County

Daytime closure necessary to replace signs

(Trenton)(Nov. 23, 2021)-- - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the I-76 westbound shoulder is scheduled to be closed during the day next week, as the Direct Connection project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County.

NJDOT’s contractor, South State, Inc., is scheduled to close the right shoulder on I-76 westbound approximately a half mile before Exit 1C/Route 130 south from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day, Monday, November 29, Tuesday, November 30, and Wednesday, December 1. The closures are necessary to replace two signs – the first is for the Exits 1 C-D/Route 130 south and Route 130 North sign; the second is at Exit 1C/Route 130 south/Right Lane Exit Only. Motorists should use caution, slow down in the work area, and move over if possible.

The work is part of the Direct Connection project that will provide a seamless route for I-295 motorists traveling through the interchange of I-295, I-76, and Route 42. To sign up for I-295 Direct Connect project updates go to 295DirectConnect.com or text CONNECT to 1-844-844-3681.

Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information, and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NewJerseyDOT or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
