Rowan outscored host TCNJ in the final few minutes to win 85-77

EWING, NJ – Rowan outscored host TCNJ in the final few minutes to pull away and score an 85-77 win in the NJAC opener for both teams. The Profs (4-0 ;1-0 NJAC) have now won four straight games to open the season.

Arian Azemi had 13 points for the Profs and D'Andre Vilmar scored 13, with Damian Smith chipping in 12, and Hafeez Melvin adding 11 points. Ryan O'Leary contributed 10 to round out the double-figure scorers.
Training 73-72 with over five minutes to play, the Profs went 6-for-6 from the foul line and used a driving layup from Azemi to put together a 13-6 run to earn the win.
Both teams struggled from the perimeter, hitting under 26 percent from three-point range, with TCNJ (3-2; 0-1 NJAC)  making just 20 percent.
The game was close the entire second half, with a five-point lead by Rowan, 49-44, being the largest margin of the period.
TCNJ led by as much as eight in the first half, 26-18, but  Smith had eight points as Rowan outscored the home team, 22-14, before halftime to take a 40-38 lead at intermission.
It marked a season-low in points for Rowan as the Profs had scored 100-plus points in their first three games.
The Profs return home to host Stockton on Wednesday, December 1, and then host Kean on December 4.​
