John J. DeRago, age 72 of Cherry Hill, NJ passed away at Samaritan Hospice, Voorhees, NJ on November 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. John-Derago-1637753108

John was born April 2, 1949 in Camden, NJ to the late Michael J. Jr. and Mary (Grassi) DeRago.
He was a graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School and West Virginia University.

John began his career in banking and finance and later went into insurance sales. He owned and operated DeRago Insurance Services for 35 years. He truly cared for each and every one of his clients and considered many of them friends.

He enjoyed world travel with his wife and spending summers at his Ocean City shore house with family and friends. He was a avid sports fan, die-hard conservative, loved to golf, enjoyed smoking good cigars with the guys, listening to Frank Sinatra and oldies music and was very handy at fixing and building things around the house. He was always kind and compassionate with everyone he met.

John was the beloved husband of 43 years to his wife Elizabeth (nee Petrillo), devoted father to his daughter Jennifer Kushner (Michael), adoring Pop-Pop to his grandchildren Madelynn, Jordan and Jacob. He is also survived by his brother Michael J. DeRago, III (Renee), brother-in-law Ronald Petrillo (Maria), nephew and Godson Brian DeRago, nieces Cortney Petrillo and Christine DeRago, Goddaughter Kelley Vincent, Godson Nicholas DiMedio and his favorite cousin Lenora Vincent (Jeffrey).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation at St. Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton, NJ on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 10:30am-11:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm.
