"The 2021 Holiday Season is upon us. This is a great time of the year. A time to enjoy our family and friends, and hopefully a time when we can pause and give thanks for the many blessings that we have. We at the Gloucester Township Police Department again have much to be thankful for. We are thankful for those that we work with and for the community support that we regularly receive. The men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department have pulled together as a team, and have navigated the difficulties of the pandemic and other difficult times in policing. No one has done it better.
As you travel through Gloucester Township during this holiday season, you are likely to see our officers conducting traffic enforcement, specifically targeting drunk driving and aggressive driving. Our goal is to reduce crashes and avoid tragedy, so everyone can enjoy the holidays. Please take your time, put down your phones, and don’t drink alcohol or use marijuana if you are driving. We will be proactively deploying our officers throughout the holiday season to keep our community safe.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, please take a moment to remember the 428 Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty this year (see www.odmp.org ). Please remember the families of these heroes, who are grieving their loved ones during the holiday season. We will continue to honor them by carrying on our law enforcement mission. The men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department answer the call and respond when our community needs us.
On behalf of all of the members of the Gloucester Township Police Department we would like to wish you a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving! We are honored to serve you.
Thank you for your support!
David J. Harkins
Chief of Police"
