Gloucester City, NJ, On October 26, 2021 Age 94. Preceded by his Beloved Wife, Jean.

Loving father of William W Johnson and wife Debbie, Barry Jost and wife Christa, and the late Walter W Jost Jr.  Cherished Grandfather of ten and Great-Grandfather of ten.

Walter was Mayor of Gloucester City in the early 90's.  A lifelong resident and graduate of Gloucester City High School.  He was involved in the City and always showed care and concern for his family and citizens.  Walt was committed and shared his experience in local government, numerous organizations and committees throughout the years. He had a major interest in the youth of the city and had been active in the Cub Scouts and the Boys Scouts for many years.  He received two outstanding awards for his service to the youth; The District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Walter was a real estate broker for over 25 years and also worked as a Radio Technician for WIP Radio, he was a Studio Supervisor for WMMR in Philadelphia and worked for WYSP doing Eagles Football.

A WWII Marine Corps Veteran, Walter was also active in his community church, serving as Financial Secretary and on the Board of Deacons.  He was a member of the Merchantville Lodge #119, Palestine Lodge #135 and was on the Gloucester City Planning Board, Celebration Committee, Rotary Club, Amateur Radio Club, Emergency Communications Group and various community services.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday Nov 5th 9-11a. At Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 700 Powell St. Gloucester City. Private burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery to follow.
