5 Alternatives To Renting A Car While Traveling

Renting a car is a useful means of getting around when you're traveling, but it's not the only option nor is it always the best option. Here are five alternatives to renting a car while traveling. 1. Go On A Cruise When you take cruises, cruise ships are your main mode of transportation. Your vacation or trip will take place entirely while traveling, like a road trip but on the water. Cruises tend to be all-inclusive, so there are plenty of activities to do onboard, but you'll also be given time to disembark at various locations whenever you take a cruise. It's not typically necessary to rent a car for the brief periods of time when you're on land during your cruise, so if you want to venture farther away from your ship, more flexible modes of transportation, such as rideshare apps, are better choices. 2. Use Rideshare Apps Rideshare... Read more →

GUEST OPINION: When Will This Silliness Stop? President Thomas Jefferson Statue Removed NYC Hall

Bill Donohue | CNBNews Contributor Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on another victim of the cancel culture: On October 18, New York City officials voted unanimously to remove a 7-foot-tall statue of Thomas Jefferson from the chambers of the New York City Council in City Hall. Perversely, the person most responsible for declaring Jefferson a racist is himself a racist, New York State Assemblyman Charles Barron. What should they do with the Jefferson statue? "I think it should be put in storage or destroyed or whatever," he said. Barron started his activist career as a member of the Black Panthers, a racist organization. The ADL, which tracks anti-Semitism, says he "has associated with anti-Semitic hate groups and promoted extreme anti-Israel positions intended to demonize the Jewish state since his election [to the City Council] in 2001." The ADL does not exaggerate. Barron said in 2009, "Gaza is a virtual... Read more →

OPINION: The Pension System for Police, Fire Departments and County Sheriffs Needs to be Fixed

UPDATED/CORRECTED Dorothy Heade | CNBNews contributor GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (October 19, 2021)--Recently there was quite the conversation on CNBNews about Gloucester City employees who are enrolled in the NJ state pension plans. One person explained that when he retired from his private industry job he should make out just as well and questioned if the rest of us were jealous. The answer is "no." If someone worked for Comcast (as an example) and is collecting a million dollar pension, congratulations! I, as a consumer, have the opportunity to use Comcast's services or Verizon , Dish, Direct or no cable service at all. The city employees, however, are different. We don't have any say in who is hired, the contract negotiations, the pension terms or the cost of all the above. A look at the history and origin of memes

In 1976, Richard Dawkins published his book The Selfish Gene, in which he introduced the word meme: "We need a name for the new replicator, a noun that conveys the idea of a unit of cultural transmission, or a unit of imitation.’Mimeme' comes from a suitable Greek root, but I want a monosyllable that sounds a bit like 'gene'. I hope my classicist friends will forgive me if I abbreviate mimeme to meme. If it is any consolation, it could alternatively be thought of as being related to 'memory, or to the French word même.
