Four Rowan student-athletes received NJAC weekly honors

PITMAN, NJ- Four Rowan student-athletes received NJAC weekly honors today – Julia Cavicchio (field hockey), Jordan McChesney (women’s swimming & diving), Joe Rucci (men’s swimming & diving) and Tobias Cahnbley (men’s swimming & diving).
Cavicchio (Medford, NJ) was honored as the Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as she helped the defense that ran its shutout streak to six with a 2-0 win over Stockton. In that game, she also scored the insurance goal in that win which clinched the top seed in the NJAC Tournament for the #6 Profs. In the 3-2 win at #17 Salisbury, she helped limit the Sea Gulls to just three shots as Rowan ran its winning streak to 10 games. It marks the freshman’s third weekly honor of the season, as she was the Rookie of the Week twice so far.
McChesney (Hillsborough, NJ) was tabbed as the Women’s Swimmer of the Week as she won four events (2 individual/2 relay) as the Profs won their season opener by defeating York, 181-61. She finished first in the 50 free (24.62) and the 100 free (53.4) and was a member of the first-place 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
Rucci (Sewell, NJ) was named the Men’s Swimmer of the Week as he won two events in the Prof's season-opening win over York on Saturday. He had a PR in the 200 Butterfly, timing in at 1:50.84 and later added a win in the 200 IM in 1:50.04.
Cahnbley (West Windsor, NJ) was named the Men’s Swimming Rookie of the Week and had quite a debut in the Profs' season-opening win over York. The rookie captured the 200 backstroke (1:52.82) and the 1000 free (9:53.60) to help Rowan to a 182-70 victory.
