College Field Hockey: Rowan over Rampo 8-0

MAHWAH, NJ – Freshman Vanessa DiDonato came off the bench to score her first career hat trick, and  Kristiina Castagnola added two goals and two assists, as #6 Rowan defeated Ramapo, 8-0, in NJAC field hockey action today. The Profs (10-2; 4-0 NJAC) have now won eight in a row, with five straight shutouts.
 
The Profs scored three goals in the first 20 minutes, with Rachel Stone tallying one 10 minutes into the contest. DiDonato scored her first, with the assist from Julia Cavicchio, at 17:41, and then Julia Patrone netted a goal less than two minutes later, assisted by Molly Gorczyca.

Rowan scored one more before halftime as DiDonato teamed up with Castagnola for the goal at 26:45 to run the Profs' lead up to 4-0.
 
The Profs picked up where they left off in the second half as Dayna DeVincentz scored less than two minutes in, with Castagnola again notching the assist.
 
Castagnola, last week's NJAC Offensive Player of the Week, tallied her first goal of the game off a pass from Krystyna Hovell at 37:33.
 
DiDonato completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal at 47:05 and Castagnola closed out the scoring, with her second at 50:15, assisted by DeVincentz.
 
Abby Hainsworth and Aida Ingram combined for the shutout, which is Rowan's fifth in a row. Hainsworth, made one save in 45 minutes, with Ingram stopping two in the final 15 minutes of the game.
 
The Profs are back home on Wednesday to face NJAC foe Stockton at 7 p.m.​
