Oroho: A Looming $252 Million Tax Increase on Employers Unnecessary

Poor Forecasting By the Murphy Administration Again Republican Solution Would Use Money from the Feds to Help Save Jobs and Businesses Senator Steve Oroho blamed faulty forecasting by the Murphy Administration for an enormous business payroll tax increase set to take effect on October 30 to put money into the Unemployment Insurance Fund, which the Administration projected to be almost a billion dollars in the red by the end of June of this year. In reality, the fund held more than $51 million on June 30, according to government documents; a billion dollar miss. “After the Murphy Administration so poorly forecasted last year’s revenues which led them to borrow billions of dollars that proved to be completely unnecessary, they woefully forecasted the June 30 unemployment insurance trust fund balance. The unemployment insurance tax increase was not announced until Friday, August 13. There was plenty of time for the administration to... Read more →

GUEST OPINION: What Pope Said To Biden Is Unconfirmed

October 29, 2021 Bill Donohue | CNBNews Contributor Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on the conversation between the pope and the president: After Pope Francis and President Biden met today, President Biden said that the pope called him a "good Catholic" and that he should "keep receiving communion." The Vatican has not confirmed the veracity of Biden's account. Like everyone else, we at the Catholic League have no way of knowing whether Biden's remarks are accurate. But from what we know about the Vatican's handling of the meeting, and Biden's long record of lying about many important matters, we are maintaining a healthy skepticism about the president's rendition. It is certainly in Biden's interest to have everyone think that the pope encouraged him to keep receiving communion. This issue matters because it has troubled many American bishops; they will meet in a few weeks to discuss it. Biden's lust... Read more →

OH NO JOE, SAY IT ISN'T SO !!!...THE VATICAN TELLS WHITE HOUSE NO LIVE COVERAGE OF BIDEN GREETING THE POPE

Vatican Stiffs Biden Bill Donohue | CNBNews Contributor October 28, 2021 Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on tomorrow's meeting between the pope and the president: Yesterday, I issued a statement saying the White House is out to milk the meeting between Pope Francis and President Biden. They need to. Biden is in trouble with the bishops at home—he adamantly rejects core Catholic moral teachings—and his administration was banking on posting pictures of the two men grinning and shaking hands. But now the Vatican has thrown a monkey wrench into this opportunistic gambit. The media have been mostly barred from covering the meeting. The Vatican has said that there will be no live coverage of Biden greeting the pope. Nor will the media be allowed to cover the two men sitting down as they begin their conversation. In other words, the optics that the White House was counting on are... Read more →

The Google Voice verification scam

October 27, 2021 by Alvaro Puig Consumer Education Specialist, FTC It’s Cyber Security Awareness month, so the tricks scammers use to steal our personal information are on our minds. If there’s one constant among scammers, it’s that they’re always coming up with new schemes, like the Google Voice verification scam. Have you heard about it? Here’s how it works. Scammers target people who post things for sale on sites like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. They also prey on people who post looking for help finding their lost pet. The scammers contact you and say they want to buy the item you’re selling — or that they found your pet. But before they commit to buying your item, or returning your pet, they feign hesitation. They might say they’ve heard about fake online listings and want to verify that you’re a real person. Or they might say they want to verify... Read more →

Why didn’t N.J. schools go remote during Tuesday’s storm? Blame this state law

Patrick Wall, Chalkbeat Newark Oct 28, 4:18pm EDT Amid forecasts of a fearsome nor’easter, some New Jersey districts closed schools on Tuesday while others decided to stay open and brave the storm. But, to many people’s surprise, most schools didn’t go remote. The little-known reason: Under a state law passed last year, remote learning only qualifies as an official school day during emergency school closures that last more than three consecutive days. A single day of online classes would not count as one of the 180 required annual school days. “At this time, it’s not an option for us to do a remote day on a weather emergency — snow day, storms, anything like that,” said Dr. Norma Fernandez, deputy superintendent of Jersey City Public Schools, which canceled classes Tuesday. “It will not count toward the 180 days.” Gov. Phil Murphy ordered all schools to return to full in-person instruction... Read more →
