WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, NJ--(September 18, 2021)--Friday, September 17, at approximately 9 AM , the Winslow Township Police Department school resource officer was notified that the Winslow Township Middle School was placed into a lockdown, after school staff had located an alleged airsoft rifle in a students backpack. Several units responded to the Middle School.
In an overabundance of caution, the High School and the Board of Education Office were both placed into lockouts.
Responding units conducted a swift investigation and determined that there was no threat to any of the students and staff, and the lockdowns and lockout were lifted within a half an hour.
The airsoft, plastic projectile gun was turned over to police, and the investigation was continued. As result of the investigation, one juvenile student was taken into custody and will be charged accordingly.
