City of Gloucester City Increases Salary of the Police Chief to $195,000

EDITOR'S NOTE: Gloucester City Mayor and Council passed resolution 037 increasing the salary of the police chief to $195,000 retroactive to December 1, 2021.  The duties of police chief Brian Morrell were expanded by resolution 242 on December 22, 2020, because of the emergency created by the pandemic. 

The contract of the former administrator Jack Lippsett was not renewed on December 31, 2020. The city advertised the position and received a number of applications for the job, according to the former mayor, Dan Spencer.
