(Gloucestercitynews.net)-WILDWOOD, NJ--A 1960 documentary (see below) about the Wildwoods will bring back fond memories from those of us who grew up vacationing in this resort during the '50s and '60s. Although this was 60 years ago it seems like yesterday for some of us.
Remember the smell of the sea when you got off the parkway and drove the last few miles into Wildwood along the Rio Grande Blvd. hoping you didn't get stuck in traffic when the bridge opened for a fishing boat.
All the nightclubs with live bands such as the Riptide Club, the Stardust Nightclub, the Hof Brau, the Bolero, the Surf Club, the Hurricane, the Beachcomber, Moore’s Inlet, Diamond Beach, the Rainbow Room. Also, the Big Blue Sightseer boat, Neils Steakhouse, Kurtz Restaurant, the many motels, such as The Bel-Air, The Caribbean; Hunt's Pier, Groff's Restaurant, The Jack Rabbit Roller Coaster, dances at the Starlight Room, The Tom Cat, Ed Zaberers restaurant, Urie's Seafood Restaurant, staying at Collier's, late night/early morning breakfast at the Wildwood Diner, the national Marbles Contest, waffles at Taubers. (who/what did I forget?)
