It’s amazing motivation for our players and drives them to execute at their top level, which has resulted in being featured in seven separate SportsCenter Top 10 plays on ESPN this season.”

Unique Player Statistics

Unique this year, live data on player performance will be featured in the halftime stats – player accelerations, total distance run, etc. The average total distance run during an AUDL game is comparable to that of a soccer match. During the World Cup opening match in 2018, the Mexico team ran an average of 5.46 miles during the match.1 This season, the AUDL piloted STATSports wearables to measure player performance during a game. During the three games played by an AUDL league team using STATSports wearables, the team ran over 6 total miles on average each game. Two of those three games averaged over 6.8 miles total.

“As the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia, Events DC is ready and excited to welcome professional Ultimate to DC at Audi Field,” said Gregory A. O’Dell, president and chief executive officer of Events DC. “We are honored to host the 2021 AUDL Championship Weekend, showcasing Washington, DC as a hub for world-class sporting events and it is sure to be an incredible experience for both fans and players.”

Getting the Community Involved

In addition to the best in Ultimate vying for the top spot, the AUDL will host a youth tournament Saturday before the championship game. The tournament is a showcase of DC-region middle school talent. There will also be a youth clinic supported by the R.I.S.E. organization and held in King Greenleaf Park before the championship game. The clinic is part of the AUDL’s Inclusion Initiative whose mission is to increase racial and cultural diversity and inclusion by engaging communities of color and partnering with people who share the same mission.

About AUDL and Professional Ultimate
The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) was founded in 2012 to introduce and showcase our talented athletes and precision play to a global audience. Ultimate is a fast, flowing and highly athletic low-contact sport that is played by advancing a disc down a field to score by passing into the end zone. Players cannot run with the disc, and play continues until one team scores.

With pinpoint passing and the unique flight of the disc, each game generates many exciting catches and defensive plays that frequently appear on EPSN’s Sports Center Top 10, Fox Sports, Bleacher Report and other leading sports shows.

The league has 22 teams playing in the US and Canada.  Each team competes in a 12-game regular season schedule, with top teams entering a playoff round and divisional winners advancing to a final four style Championship Weekend. Our audience enjoys our exciting, affordable, family-friendly events, devour our highlights and video features on social media and watch our full-length games on TV or streamed online. www.theaudl.com
