Rowan Field Hockey Picked to Finish Tied for Second Place

PITMAN, NJ – The Rowan field hockey team has been picked to finish in a tie for second place in the 2021 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the league. The Profs received two first-place votes in the poll and are tied with last year’s champion TCNJ, with Kean being voted into the top spot.

Rowan, which has not played a game since November 16, 2019, went 15-5, reached the NJAC Finals and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament during that season. 


The Profs will open the year at home, on September 1 against Ursinus at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium and 7 p.m. and will play their first conference matchup against Montclair State on October 1 at 4 p.m. 


Head coach Michelle Andre brings back an experienced squad, which includes the top four scorers from 2019. Bridget Guinan, an All-NJAC First Team honoree, had a team-high 17 goals and eight assists in 2019, with Krystyna Hovell, also an All-Conference First Team selection, tallying 18 goals and five assists. All-American Kristiina Castagnola recorded 15 goals and nine assists, while Liz Fox netted eight goals.
