Two More Olympic-bound Players to Join North America’s News Pro League

Alev Kelter and Kevon Williams join eight other Olympians to sign with PR7s

(NEW YORK, July 8, 2021) Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s), the new sports league that will debut this fall, today announced it has signed Olympians Alev Kelter and Kevon Williams, according to the league’s General Manager Mike Tolkin. Kelter joins fellow Team USA female teammates Abby Gustaitis, Ilona Maher, and Naya Tapper to sign with the new league. On the men’s side, Williams joins Team USA teammates Perry Baker, Danny Barrett, Carlin Isles, and Stephen Tomasin. Today’s announcement brings the total number of players to sign with PR7s to 10 – all Olympians. Area sports 2

“Alev and Kevon are two tremendous additions to Premier Rugby Sevens,” said Tolkin. “In addition to being the foundation of our world-class talent, our first 10 players to sign with PR7s will also act as ambassadors of the league. Every one of them brings an elite skill set that our fans are going to love watching here in the U.S. this fall.”

As a dual-sport athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and native of Alaska, Kelter excelled in ice hockey and soccer through college. She won gold as captain of the U.S. U18 women's hockey team at the 2009 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. Several years later, Kelter transitioned to rugby and was part of the 2016 USA Team when rugby sevens became an Olympic sport in Rio.

Williams is a Houston native and graduate of New Mexico Highlands University, where he played college football as a standout wide receiver. After transitioning to rugby, he made his HSBC Sevens Series debut at the 2016 Dubai Sevens Tournament and played for the 2017-18 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series where he helped his squad clinch their first-ever Cup Title on home soil at the 2018 USA Sevens.

Starting with a pilot season in the fall of 2021, PR7s will feature six men’s teams and four women’s teams that play multiple games in one location.  The first host city, event date, and team names will be revealed in the coming months.  Fans are encouraged to sign up for news alerts and schedule updates at PRSevens.com.
