Hate Group Marches in City; Two Die in Gun Battle

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 6, 2021)(CNBNews) group called The Patriot Front marched in Philadelphia, Sunday night (July 4).  Mayor Jim Kenney in a Tweet said “Appalled these groups chose Philly as the place to demonstrate their open hatred. Racism, intolerance, and hate have no place here. We’re monitoring the situation. @PhillyPolice and other public safety agencies are coordinating to ensure a safe 4th of July in Philadelphia,”  reported CBSLocal.com

The Anti-Defamation League calls the Texas-based group “a white supremacist group” that “espouses racism, anti-Semitism and intolerance under the guise of preserving the ‘ethnic and cultural origins’ of their European ancestors.” It also says the group “participates in localized ‘flash mobs’ and torch marches/demonstrations.”

Later that evening around 11 pm a gun fight in West Philadelphia was occurring. Nearly 80 shell casings were found in the street. Deputy Commissioner Robin Wimberly says three people were shot, a 17-year-old girl and two men – ages  23 and 21. The girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries while the two men were pronounced dead at Presbyterian Hospital.
