Gillooly finished 31st out of 64 swimmers in the prelims.  The senior qualified for the Olympic Trials with a time of 22.60 at the 2021 Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club Spring Derby in May.  The Olympic Trials wave II cut was 22.71.

Rowan alum Jesse Novak ’17 competed in the 50 meter freestyle and was 45th overall in 22.96.  At the Olympic trials, Novak was 38th (50.01) in the 100 meter freestyle on June 16.  On June 7, senior Dylan Regan competed in the 50 meter freestyle in wave I of the USA Swimming Olympic Trials.  He tied for 55th place in heat nine with a time of 23.38.

USA Swimming split the meet into two waves because of Covid restrictions.  The first wave was June 4-7 and the second wave is scheduled from June 13-20, which features faster standards and will serve as the main selection meet.

Gillooly’s senior season was canceled because of Covid.  He will swim next year while pursuing a Master’s in Diversity and Inclusion after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Health & Exercise Science in May.

In 2019-20, Gillooly qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 50 yard freestyle and 200 yard backstroke and on the 200 and 400 yard medley relays and 200 yard freestyle relay.  The national championships were canceled because of Covid.  He received All-America honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

Gillooly was chosen the 2020 New Jersey Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year.  He earned All-Conference first team in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 and 200 yard backstrokes, 200 yard freestyle relay and the 200 and 400 yard medley relays.
