GOOD NEWS: Norwescap to Host First Annual NorwesFes

Social Gatherings are Back...Outdoor festival and fundraiser presented by ShopRite to assist low-income families

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ June 8, 2021 – Norwescap, a social services nonprofit helping individuals and families with low income throughout northwest New Jersey, is excited to announce NorwesFest -- its first outdoor festival and fundraiser that will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at beautiful Ort Farms in Long Valley, NJ.

The one-day, two-event festival offers an all-inclusive experience for families during the day, and an exclusive, elegant experience for adults in the evening. All proceeds will support Norwescap’s mission to create opportunities that positively impact the lives of more than 30,000 low-income New Jersey residents each year. Norwescap runs a Feeding America Food Bank that distributed enough food in 2020 to provide more than 2.1 million meals, and also provides services in education, financial empowerment, housing, and a number of other areas to combat poverty.

“COVID-19 has kept families and friends apart for far too long. With New Jersey reopening, I am incredibly excited now to bring people together safely and reconnect with our neighbors and community with these wonderful events,” said Mark Valli, CEO of Norwescap. “This past year has been especially hard for the low-income individuals and families we serve, and we have stepped forward in every possible way to help them through the pandemic. Through NorwesFest we hope to raise awareness of our mission, as well as critical funds to continue to help people in need establish food and housing security, and work toward a future where they can thrive.”

NorwesFest is designed to be safe, with plenty of space to spread out across a beautiful outdoor venue, while still bringing together family and friends to celebrate the strength, generosity and resilience of the Norwescap community.

A long-time partner of Norwescap, ShopRite is the presenting sponsor of the first annual NorwesFest.

“We are excited to support Norwescap and their neighbors in need through this incredible outdoor festival,” said Robert Zuehlke, Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility for ShopRite. “NorwesFest is a great way to reunite as a community and move forward in the fight against hunger.”

NorwesFest’s Daytime Family Fun Day (11am-3pm) offers families with children of all ages a day out of the house to enjoy an all-inclusive experience including picnic lunch (individually boxed), music, wine and beer tastings, and fun activities on the farm, including hayrides, pony rides, pick your own and more!

For those 21 and over, NorwesFest Sunset Social Affair will take place from 5:30pm-9pm, and is the perfect for those in need of a relaxing, fun night out with your spouse, partner, or friends! This evening event will include beer, wine and cocktails, picnic blankets, a gourmet picnic dinner, and a live 17-piece jazz band, all in a gorgeous outdoor space with the sun setting over the mountains as the evening’s backdrop!
