(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the right lane on I-295 northbound that was scheduled to be closed during the day Wednesday has been postponed because of weather. The lane will be closed during the day on Thursday and Friday to continue work on the retaining wall investigation in Bellmawr, Camden County.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 6 until 4 p.m., and again on Friday, May 7, the right lane on I-295 northbound will be closed beginning just past the Creek Road overpass before Exit 26 where the highway splits for I-76 toward Philadelphia/I-295 toward Trenton and will continue through the tunnel. The closure is necessary for continued excavation work on the retaining wall that partially collapsed in March. Future lane closures may be necessary as the investigation continues. Motorists should expect congestion on I-295 northbound and Route 42 northbound.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information. For NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NewJerseyDOT and our Facebook page.
