McCaffrey Drives in Winning Runs in 9th as #11 Rowan Baseball Holds Off Stockton, 8-6

GALLOWAY, NJ - Trip McCaffrey drove in the game-winning runs in the top of the ninth inning as #11 Rowan (16-3; 14-1 NJAC) held off Stockton's comeback and scored an 8-6 victory in NJAC baseball action. McCaffrey's single brought home Ryan McIsaac and Ryan Murphy as the Profs won their seventh game in a row.

Zach Listro (3-0) earned the win in relief of starter Drew Ryback by keeping the Ospreys scoreless over the final 2.2 innings.

McCaffrey's timely hit, his first of the game, came with two outs and McIsaac on third after he reached base with a single, and Murphy on second after being issued an intentional walk and then advancing on a walk to Nick Schooley.

The Profs opened the game taking a 3-0 lead in the first after an RBI single from Victor Cruz and the two-run home run from Murphy, his team-high seventh of the year. Stockton (9-10; 7-8)  got back two runs in the third inning before Rowan added a pair in the fourth on a two-run double from McIsaac, which scored Ryan Mostrangeli and Jason Bobiak, to increase the lead to 5-2. That duo accounted for another run in the sixth when Mostrangeli singled to bring home Bobiak and give Rowan a 6-2 lead.

Stockton chipped away at the lead with one run in the sixth and three in the seventh, scoring on a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single from Sam Nieves to tie the game at 6-6.

After McCaffrey put the Profs on top in the final inning, Listro issued a walk in the bottom of the ninth but retired the rest of the side as Rowan held on.

McIsaac was 3-for-5 in the game with two runs and RBI while Murphy went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

The teams will meet again on Friday in a single game at the Rowan Baseball Field, and Rowan will close out the regular season on Saturday by hosting Montclair State in a doubleheader on "Senior Day".
