Letter to the Editor: Stops Signs Popped Up Overnight Without A Warning

There are four stop signs, one after the other on Cold Springs Drive heading south. The arrow points to one in the distance.  They appeared without any notice from the police or the school district at the beginning of April. (photo credit CNBNews)

I live on the unit block of East Thompson Avenue, and since April 7th my parents and other neighborhood residents have noticed a group of stop signs near Cold Springs School/Cold Springs Drive. These stop signs have been annoying them and I can understand why. Letters to ed 3

The stop signs are definitely a good idea for safety purposes, and to try and slow down the traffic near Cold Springs School.

The minor issue I have with this is that from what I know, none of the residents throughout the City were warned about the traffic signs, and this can also lead to them being driven past without a second thought if the driver is not careful.

This can also lead to many inconveniences for certain drivers since they would need to constantly come to a complete stop when at these locations. I think that a good solution would be to have another sign below the stop signs that tells the hours where it is mandatory to stop, which probably be during school hours.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Shown above is the first stop sign coming off of Market Street. Altogether there are four signs one after the other within a short distance of each other. Those in charge made no announcement about the signs after they were erected. They appeared around the beginning of April without notice. (photo credit CNBNews)
