Attention Camden Residents: LUCY HOLDING ITS ANNUAL SPRING EVENT APRIL 30

LUCY-SE-2021-invitation only

CAMDEN CITY, NJ - - LUCY (Lifting Up Camden’s Youth) Outreach is holding its annual spring event on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This year’s virtual event will begin with special guest, Food Network star and Camden native, Aaron McCargo, Jr. stepping attendees through a snack recipe to enjoy during the program.  The event will          highlight this year’s accomplishments, honor high school seniors receiving college scholarships, and provide an update on the progress of LUCY’s dream youth center scheduled to break ground this spring. The fun-filled event will include the opportunity to win auction items, while celebrating successes and focusing on the future.  All funds raised will benefit LUCY Outreach programming.

“We are so proud to honor Holman Enterprises at this year's Spring Event. This partnership has been beyond special and impactful for so many years," said Kristin Prinn, LUCY’s Executive Director & Founder.  “Holman’s steadfast support includes Holman days of service throughout the fall and summer, sponsorship and grants, helping us build our own fleet of 15-passenger vans, checking in on staff and youth throughout the pandemic, and an extremely generous three-year commitment to LUCY's current capital campaign, to build our 'forever home.' Their support, day in and day out, makes it possible for us to fulfill our mission in Camden City and throughout the county.”

LUCY Outreach offers multilingual, culturally sensitive services to low-income Camden County youth and young adults, ages 7-28, and their families.  In 2020, amidst the pandemic, LUCY was able to remain open and support over 300 youth and their families around the clock.  Services include educational, social, cultural and service-oriented programs, which empower youth to form healthy relationships, make good choices and develop into compassionate and socially responsible adults who have an impact within their city and beyond.

“LUCY is excited to embark on its next chapter, and break ground on dream youth center in one short month!,” said Prinn. “Please join us on the journey!”

About LUCY
In 1985, thanks to the vision of then-pastor Monsignor Robert McDermott, the St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral Youth Ministry began to provide Camden teens with year-round education and social opportunities outside of school.  In 2008, the program underwent a restructuring to address the particular challenges faced by Camden’s youth:  teen delinquency, gang and drug involvement, substance abuse in the home, and teen pregnancy.  The restructuring created new comprehensive and innovative programs along with a new name, LUCY Outreach, an acronym for “Lifting up Camden’s Youth” coined by the teens themselves.  As of April 2016, LUCY transitioned from a Parish initiative to LLUCY Outreach, a New Jersey nonprofit corporation with its 501(c)(3) designation received in October 2016 positioning us for growth and development.  For more information about LUCY or to make a donation, visit www.lucyoutreach.org.
