GLASSBORO, NJ - Elise Cohan scored six goals and Ashley Lechliter had five to give Rowan (1-2) an 18-6 win over Kean in women's lacrosse action today at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium, for the Profs' first victory of the year.
Cohan established a new career-high while Lechliter tied her personal best and also added an assist on the day. Erin Renshaw scored three goals and Dara Hennessy tallied two with Julianna Corson handing out four assists for the Profs and Julia Grlica dishing out three. Single goals were scored by Michaela Donnelly and Chloe Shea.
Kean owned an early 2-1 lead but the Profs answered with four straight goals to take a 5-2 edge. Renshaw's goal at 12:21, on an assist by Corson, gave Rowan the lead for good.
After another Kean goal, Renshaw started a stretch of four straight tallies by Rowan to build the advantage to 9-3. Cohan had three goals in the late first-half stretch that allowed the Profs to take an 11-4 lead at halftime.
Kean opened the scoring in the second half, but Rowan scored four more to take a 14-5 advantage. With the score 14-6, the Profs scored four in a row to close out the game with the 10-plus goal margin.
Dana Meehan had two goals and an assist to lead Kean in its season opener.
The game does not count in the NJAC standings as the teams will meet again on April 17 at Kean and Rowan returns to action on Wednesday, March 24, when it travels to Salisbury.
