CNB SPORTS: 20 Rowan Field Hockey Players Selected to NFHCA National Academic Squad

BROCKPORT, NY – The Rowan University field hockey team had 20 players named to the 2020 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad.  

     This year, there were 2,050 student-athletes from more than 140 Division III schools that earned the recognition.  The program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-21 academic year.

     Back Dayna DeVincentz received her fourth straight honor.  The senior from Flemington is majoring in mathematics.  She is joined by backs Lauren Cooper, Mackenzie Dakin, Melissa Donaldson and Kylie Taylor.  Goalies Abby Hainsworth and Aida Ingram were members of the academic team.

     The players also included midfielders Kristiina Castagnola, Madison DuBois, Molly Gorczyca, Victoria Harper, Rachel Stone, Kyle Sutton and Sydney Wright.  The forwards selected were Olivia Elwell, Bridget Guinan and Sarita Marshall.  The honorees consisted of forward/back Julianna Gligor, forward/midfielder Morgan Mulvey and midfielder/back Adrianna Searle.

   This is the third selection for Castagnola (communication studies), Guinan (mechanical engineering) and Mulvey (marketing).  Cooper (molecular and cellular biology),  Donaldson (health and physical education), Elwell (mathematics), Gorczyca (marketing and supply chain & logistics systems), Hainesworth (civil and environmental engineering), Harper (accounting), Ingram (health and physical education) and Wright (civil and environmental engineering) have received the award for the second time.

     The first time honorees include Dakin (exercise science), DuBois (early childhood education), Gligor (public relations), Marshall (biological sciences), Serale (studio art), Stone (marketing), Sutton (biologicial sciences) and Taylor (mechanical engineering).

     The NFHCA will announce the Division III Scholars of Distinction on March 23 and the National Academic Team Awards on March 29.
