AMID DISRUPTED HOLIDAY SEASON, TO BRIGHTEN COMMUNITY’S SPIRITS
As remote learning continues, charter network hosts Joy of Lights show and drive-in movie screenings throughout the month to uplift students and families
Camden City, NJ – Today, December 21, from 5-8pm, Camden’s Charter School Network is hosting its dazzling light show, The Joy of Lights, to brighten the community and spark cheer during the holiday season after an unprecedented year. With over 100,000 lights covering the network’s campus, it has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland with differently themed areas using blow-ups, lights and diffusers to create a festive atmosphere into the night.
The school network has been hosting the light show every weekday this month from 5-8pm, along with drive-in movie screenings Wednesdays through Fridays.

"We recognize that people are tired of the restrictions caused by COVID-19 and this light show is our way of providing some relief to our students, staff and community in a safe way,” said Dr. Joseph Conway, Superintendent of Camden’s Charter School Network.
“My children loved it! They were glued to the movie and sang along in our car. We even got a cute family photo with a Santa prop and his sleigh at the end of the walk through,” said Rebecca Phelan, Executive Director of Camden’s Charter School Network.
About Camden’s Charter School Network
In 1998, Camden's Promise Charter School opened its doors to 100 sixth-grade students. Since that time, we have grown to an enrollment size of 2,300 students in grades PreK-12th across four campuses in Camden. At Camden's Charter School Network, our students are college bound. Camden Academy has graduated 15 senior classes with a 95% graduation rate. To focus on lifetime learning, we maintain a close connection to our alumni and assist them through their post-secondary plans, including colleges and universities, trade schools, the military and the general workforce. Active in the city of Camden, we employ an ongoing social justice curriculum. Working with community partners, our students provide over 15,000 hours of annual community service, keeping to our commitment to change the world.
