Black Horse Pike Gloucester Township On November 15, 2020 at approximately 11:00 PM, the Gloucester Township Police Department was conducting pro-active police operations in the area of the Howard Johnson Inn at 832 N. Black Horse Pike. During the investigation, officers became aware of a female soliciting herself for prostitution at the hotel. A motor vehicle stop was conducted occupied by the female soliciting along with a male and two additional females. The male, later identified as Nikolaus Breland from Camden, was arrested for Possession of CDS and Promoting Prostitution. A female occupant of the vehicle, Barbara Cantz of Woodbury, was arrested for Promoting Prostitution. Breland and Cantz were released on criminal summonses pending a future court appearances. The two additional women were released without charges. The women were offered services by the Gloucester Township Police Department and their licensed clinical social worker. The vehicle operated by Breland was impounded pending further investigation and a search warrant application. On November 20, 2020, officers executed a search warrant on the vehicle, and recovered a loaded 9mm Taurus semiautomatic handgun, electronic equipment, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia.... 6,000 TONS OF CONCRETE PROVIDE NEW HOME FOR MARINE LIFE (20/P47) TRENTON – New Jersey’s artificial reef network has been significantly expanded through a deployment of 6,000 tons of concrete on the Manasquan Inlet reef site, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced. Material for the first deployment on Oct. 28 consisted of 74 concrete forms, measuring 40 feet x 8 feet x 1.5 feet each, donated by Maher Terminals in Elizabeth, Union County. Another 77 forms were deployed Nov. 10. The forms, once used by U.S. Customs to scan shipping containers, were no longer needed and were slated to be recycled. “This beneficial collaboration gives new life to these materials, keeping it out of landfills and providing habitat for a wide array of marine life, including species important to New Jersey’s world class commercial and recreational fishing sectors,” said Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Catherine R. ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – November 19, 2020 – South Jersey Gas, subsidiary of SJI (NYSE:SJI), today filed a petition with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) seeking approval of an Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP) that would accelerate planned capital expenditures to enhance the delivery of safe, reliable, affordable natural gas, create jobs, and support the State’s environmental goals. Under the proposed five-year program, beginning in June 2021, South Jersey Gas will invest approximately $742.5 million to replace 825 miles of aging steel mains and install Excess Flow Valves (EFVs) on new service lines. EFVs are mechanical safety devices designed to shut off the flow of natural gas automatically in the event of a service line break. The enhancements ensure the continued safety and reliability of the South Jersey Gas natural gas system. Gloucestercitynews.net files Last year, according to the agency’s Oversight and Outreach Plan, the state comptroller found deficiencies with EDA’s management and administration of tax incentive programs. According to the plan, the state found internal controls for monitoring the performance of tax incentive recipients “were ineffective or did not exist,” making it difficult for the EDA to determine if incentivized jobs were created or kept. The comptroller made 21 recommendations to the EDA, and the state will evaluate whether the recommendations have been implemented. “After we conduct an audit or investigation, we are required to review whether our recommendations have been followed – and to report when a subject of our audit or investigation has failed to implement a corrective action plan,” Acting State Comptroller Kevin D. Camden CITY, N.J. – Three additional juveniles have been charged in connection to the fatal beating of a homeless man in Camden, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki. A 12-year-old, 13-year-old, and 14-year-old have each been charged with one count of first-degree Murder and one count of second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault. Police responded to the 1100 block of Kaighn Ave. in Camden shortly after midnight on June 25 for a report of an unresponsive man in the alleyway. When they arrived, they found a homeless man, identified as Bobby J. Hill Jr., 63, suffering from multiple injuries to the head. Hill was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. A medical examiner determined he died from blunt force trauma. A 17-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy were charged in connection to the fatal beating on June 30. Through further investigation, detectives tied the three juveniles, who were 11, 12, and 13 at the time of the homicide, to the crime through witness statements and surveillance footage. This new feature inside the Manasquan Inlet reef site will be called the Maher Terminals Reef in recognition of the donated material by Maher Terminals, located in Port Elizabeth, NJ. Material consisted of 151 concrete forms, measuring 40 feet x 8 feet x 1.5 feet each. The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) announced its conclusion based on railroads’ self-reported progress as of a Sept. 30 progress report. Congress has mandated railroads fully implement positive train control (PTC) systems by the end of the year. Nationally, PTC systems were either in operation or revenue service demonstration (RSD) on 99.6% of the 57,537 route miles where the system is required. As of Sep. 30, NJ Transit is operating a PTC system in RSD on about 48% of the 375.9 route miles where PTC is mandated.
