Gloucestercitynews.net files "As long as I count the votes, what are you going to do about it or say?" Boss Tweed NEWS PROVIDED BY Amistad Project AMHERST, Va., Oct. 28, 2020,/PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's appearance before the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee today, and to promote election integrity and transparency, the Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society challenged Mr. Zuckerberg to disclose where his $350 million for election administration is going and why. Mark Zuckerberg has contributed $350 million to the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), a left-leaning organization that has been providing these funds to towns, cities, and counties for election administration, via contributions to their general funds. The largest, public donations have gone overwhelmingly to strongly Democratic areas, as documented below. "Mark Zuckerberg is providing nearly as much money to this year's election administration as the federal government," said Phill Kline, Director of The Amistad Project, which has supported federal lawsuits to dispute the application of the Zuckerberg funds. "The American people have a right to know what has driven him to take this extraordinary action, and where all the money is going," said Kline. Key questions for Mr. Zuckerberg include...

(November 30, 2020)--More than 42 percent of Gloucester City’s population of 12,000 are married couples, and they all had at least one stressful experience while planning their wedding. The experience of married Gloucester City residents is a reflection of America’s views on weddings in general, as six out of 10 American couples who got married in 2018 seriously considered eloping instead of going ahead with a traditional wedding. The stress brought about by the planning was compounded by the financial strain on both parties, as the average cost of weddings in the United States is $37,124. Planning ahead can help to reduce the stress associated with the financial burden. Save Money First Weddings are not just about calling ahead to reserve the venue of your dreams or looking for the right dress months before. Planning ahead also involves saving money before any of the details are arranged. It is important to set a budget for this special day, as costs can balloon from the average national cost to $40,000 or even more. To get an accurate picture of how much you will be spending, you will need to analyze current costs and minimize those costs if needed. You will also...

Last week's unfortunate deaths mark our 38th and 39th homicides for the year and now eclipse the previous record set in 2013. When we set out to lift Trenton together, this was not the milestone we wanted to see. In fact, overall crime was trending downward the previous two years, with 16 homicides in 2018 and 15 homicides in 2019. 2020 is a year of many challenges, but none looms larger than COVID-19. Of all the factors that separate the previous years from this one, this virus clearly stands out, not just here but in so many places across the country. Economic uncertainty is higher than it has ever been in recent memory. School was for some children the only safe space they had. Youth engagement and recreational activities have grinded to a halt. Every police officer who has to quarantine for 14 days is one less guardian on the street, a heavy blow for a police department that is already much smaller than it was just a few years ago. I understand this provides little comfort to the family and friends that lost loved ones to the violence. I’ve sat with the families. I’ve visited the hospitals. They don’t...

NEW YORK, NY – At 10 AM on November 30, 2020, the day before World AIDS Day, the End AIDS New York Community Coalition joined with members of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York State Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic (EtE)Task Force, and members of the NYS AIDS Advisory Council (AAC) and its AAC EtE Subcommittee, to convene a press conference demanding that Governor Cuomo make good on his commitment to end AIDS as an epidemic in New York State, in a full and equitable manner that eliminates persistent HIV health disparities based on race, poverty, and marginalized identities. Despite years of collaborative government and community effort that has produced significant overall progress, the Governor now appears to be abandoning his 2014 commitment to Ending the Epidemic—by stripping away essential resources that are key to sustaining progress and reaching our EtE goals. In the midst of a pandemic that disproportionately affects the same communities of Black and Latinx/Hispanic New Yorkers who also experience HIV health disparities, the State has imposed a 20% across the board withhold of funding for critical HIV prevention and care programs, and has plans to undermine the fiscal stability of and services provided by the safety-net providers that...

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – November 19, 2020 – South Jersey Gas, subsidiary of SJI (NYSE:SJI), today filed a petition with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) seeking approval of an Infrastructure Investment Program (IIP) that would accelerate planned capital expenditures to enhance the delivery of safe, reliable, affordable natural gas, create jobs, and support the State’s environmental goals. The experience with the students inspired a big idea for Brady, a 2011 graduate who has a lifelong passion for comic books. His vision? “Batman is from Gotham, Superman is from Metropolis—so maybe there needs to be a Camden superhero.” As a child growing up with two older brothers who were into comic books, Brady wore Batman pajamas and always felt the comic book world was “so much cooler than real life.” With a knack for drawing, Brady started replicating the art he saw in comic books in the fifth grade and passed his work onto friends. Inspired by his love of superheroes, Brady thought about becoming a detective. After high school, he headed to Rutgers–Camden in 2009 to major in criminal justice. sketching out his ideas. It was there that The Bolt, a superhero who attends Rutgers–Camden and protects the citizens of Camden, was born. Brady initially didn’t...

Of course, everybody wants their security deposit back. It is often around another month’s worth of rent but other landlords can charge a lot more than this. So, you want to ensure that you get your security deposit back at the end of your lease. Here are some ways you can make sure that this happens. image courtesy of pixabay.com Treat the Property Like Your Own First of all, from the moment you move in, ensure that you treat the property as if you owned it. Andrew Cuomo took time out from this Thanksgiving plans Thursday to dismiss a ruling late Wednesday by the U.S. Supreme Court that rejected his administration’s efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 by placing restrictions on religious gatherings. The nation’s top court ruled 5-4 in favor of the Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and Agudath Israel of America, an Orthodox Jewish organization. Chief Justice John Roberts was one of the dissenters, but in his opinion, he said it was not necessary to rule on the “difficult question” at the time since the restrictions have been eased in Brooklyn. By Christen Smith | The Center Square (The Center Square)(November 25, 2020)-- – Nearly 700,000 mail-in ballots appeared from “nowhere” in Pennsylvania, putting a thumb on the scale for former Vice President Joe Biden, the president’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told state Republican senators on Wednesday. Giuliani, the public face of Trump’s legal efforts to overturn the election results in a handful of swing states – Pennsylvania chief among them – laid out his allegations for voter fraud before the Senate Majority Policy Committee in Gettysburg, just days after a federal court judge dismissed the claims as baseless. He said a special prosecutor should be appointed and those who orchestrated the election should face prosecution. “The judge said we want to disenfranchise 6 million people,” he said. “We want to disqualify 682,000 votes so that 6.4 million people aren’t disenfranchised by the cheating that went on here." Giuliani introduced panel after panel of Republican poll watchers and vote analysts that all claimed election workers in Philadelphia and Allegheny counties, home to the cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, canvassed thousands of mail-in ballots out-of-sight and repeatedly denied or obfuscated access to the process. As a result, Giuliani said some 682,000 votes...

By Todd DeFeo | The Center Square (The Center Square) – NJ Transit is the only railroad in the country “at risk of not fully implementing” a federally mandated safety system “on all its required main lines” by the end of the year, a federal agency said in a new report. The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) announced its conclusion based on railroads’ self-reported progress as of a Sept. 30 progress report. Congress has mandated railroads fully implement positive train control (PTC) systems by the end of the year. Nationally, PTC systems were either in operation or revenue service demonstration (RSD) on 99.6% of the 57,537 route miles where the system is required. As of Sep. 30, NJ Transit is operating a PTC system in RSD on about 48% of the 375.9 route miles where PTC is mandated. For a Nov. 12 board meeting, Parsons, the contractor handling the PTC project for NJ Transit, said it is on track to receive its safety certification by the Dec. 31 deadline. “NJ Transit continues to work closely with the FRA as we advance our PTC project toward full implementation by December 31,” New Jersey 101.5 quoted NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith as saying...

By Laura Fournlotis BluePearl Specialty and Emergency Pet Hospital Thanksgiving is a time to pause, reflect, and show thanks to friends, family, and companions, which includes our beloved pets. While we enjoy quality time (and food) with friends and family this holiday, it is important to keep a few things in mind—specifically, the hidden pet dangers that lurk on our dining room tables and plates. Each year, BluePearl Specialty and Emergency Pet Hospital clinicians see a significant uptick in cases during the November and December months. The most common problems include an increase in animals struck by vehicles, gastrointestinal irritations with vomiting and diarrhea, and pancreatitis from eating fatty human foods. Lindsey E. Bullen, DVM, DACVN, Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist, BluePearl Pet Hospital in Cary, N.C., says that while some pets can handle certain human treats and foods, not all can. “Although tempting, cats and dogs with food specific allergies or dietary hypersensitivities should always stay on their prescribed food and not get anything else,” explained Dr. Bullen. “Additionally, pets with any chronic disease such as diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, or pancreatitis, should not receive any human foods without first discussing with your pet’s veterinarian. And this should be...
