Three Neglected Dogs Rescued from Drug House by Gloucester Township Police

Gloucester Township(October 29, 2020)-- On 10/28/20, at approximately 6:03 AM, the Gloucester Township Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) with the assistance of the Gloucester Township Images copySpecial Response Team (SRT) executed a narcotics search warrant at a neighborhood drug house located on the 100 Block of La Cascata in Gloucester Township.
 
This was the result of a lengthy investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Special Investigations Unit, the Gloucester Township Police Operation Response Unit, and the Gloucester Township Municipal Humane Law Enforcement Officer (MHLEO). This investigation was initiated after numerous complaints were received by police for suspicious drug activity and concerned residents being terrorized by dogs when the owner, identified as Daniel A. Butler of Gloucester Township, failed to control them. Quantities of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the residence. Mr. Butler’s three (3) dogs which were located inside an exterior shed in deplorable conditions. These dogs were previously reported by township residents running at large terrorizing the neighborhood. The dogs were unvaccinated, unregistered, and not provided adequate shelter. They were seized by Animal Control at the direction of the Gloucester Township Municipal Humane Law Enforcement Officer. Immediately following the execution of the search warrant, officers from the Gloucester Township Police Community Relations Bureau responded door to door to keep our neighborhood partners informed.
 
The arrest of this individual is another example of restorative Community Policing efforts encouraging residents to take back their community and assist the Gloucester Township Police Department with keeping our community safe. Butler was charged with Possession of CDS and Drug Paraphernalia on a criminal summons and several local ordinance violations both pending court appearances.
