Attention Gloucester Township, New Jersey Deer- The GTPD Traffic Safety Unit has received several complaints of deer illegally crossing roadways and either getting struck by passing cars or almost causing a motor vehicle crash. All deer and pedestrians MUST utilize the marked crosswalks in town, as per New Jersey Statute 39:4-36. Our GTPD Municipal Humane Law Enforcement Officers (MHLEO's) are conducting extra patrols to enforce deer jaywalking laws.

We understand "the rut" is this time of year when white-tail deer, especially all you bucks, are more active and less cautious than usual, but that makes you more susceptible to being hit by motor vehicles.

Humans- Please drive carefully and be aware of illegal deer crossings. Thank you, and STAY SAFE!
