You Can Find The Perfect Pet at the Gloucester County Animal Shelter

(Clayton, NJ)—The Gloucester County Animal Shelter put in place special discounts to help clear the shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic, and residents are taking advantage.

“Pets have been leaving the shelter into very loving homes thanks to the staff at the shelter,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “The staff will walk you through the adoption process and match you with your perfect pet match. We’ve made the process easy and more affordable for everyone.”

The shelter is still offering discounted adoption fees until further notice. Dogs and cats six years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35 while dogs and cats six years and older will have their adoption fees waived. Additionally, cats are offered at a buy-one-get-one discount.

The shelter currently has 34 cats and 3 dogs available. Since last week, 17 animals have found loving homes including 10 cats, 6 dogs and 1 bird.

GCAS is still limiting access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shelter will now be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while adoption hours are by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Gloucester County Animal Shelter has also launched the GCAS Pet Food Pantry. The pantry will help pets stay in their forever home by alleviating the financial stress of purchasing pet food for families that are struggling because of the effects of COVID-19.

Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco said, “We created this food pantry to help keep our pets in your homes. Thank you to everyone who donated so we could stock our shelves and help our residents."

The GCAS Pet Food Pantry is asking for dog food and cat food. Monetary donations will also be accepted. All donations, including monetary, can be dropped off or mailed to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter located at 1200 N Delsea Drive, Clayton 08312.

If you're visiting us in person, please utilize the drop box for monetary donations.
