A judge has issued an order that stops the Trump administration's Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, from changing the operations of the United States Postal Service (USPS) before the election — including dismantling machines and removing mailboxes. "We will have a free and fair election," state Attorney General Gurbir Grewal tweeted yesterday. (NorthJersey)
FIREFIGHTERS SUE OVER 'BLATANT DISREGARD' FOR HEATH
The Atlantic City firefighters union has filed a lawsuit against the city and state, alleging an "ineffective approach" that allowed firefighters who were exposed to the coronavirus return to work after a negative COVID-19 test. The policy didn't follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, which recommend a 14-day quarantine period. The suit says 6 firefighters tested positive, exposing 65 firefighters to COVID-19. (Philadelphia Inquirer)

COVID SPIKE IN ORTHODOX COMMUNITIES RAISES CONCERN
Of the 100 to 150 new COVID-19 cases a day in Ocean County, about half are in Lakewood, which has a large Orthodox population. "Ocean County, and especially Lakewood, [are] clearly our hotspots right now,” Gov. Phil Murphy said on Friday. “I’m sure there’s some amount of relationship to worship for Rosh Hashanah. We have Yom Kippur coming up.” State health department officials are "working aggressively with the community,” he added. (Politico)
