Two Jefferson Health – New Jersey nurses — Britney Bailey, RN, and Frances Heimgartner, RN, were recently honored with 2020 second quarter DAISY Awards for compassionate and skillful care.
Bailey, who works on the Medical-Surgical Unit/MS4 at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, left, was nominated for her extraordinary care and willingness to jump in and assist others throughout the COVID-19 crisis. The Cedar Brook, NJ, resident is “always on the pulse of every aspect of her assignment and what is happening on her unit,” the nominator wrote.
Heimgartner, of Marlton, NJ, was praised for offering comfort, kindness, and sympathy to parents of an infant who was urgently admitted to the Jefferson Stratford Hospital Emergency Department.
Part of an international program, DAISY honorees are nominated by patients, family members, and colleagues for demonstrating excellence through clinical expertise, extraordinary compassionate care, and a high level of professionalism. DAISY Award winners are chosen following a review of nominations by Jefferson’s Clinical Recognition Committee in New Jersey. The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique way of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families.
