GTPD Collects Approximately 490 Lbs of Unwanted Prescription Drugs

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ (Sept. 24, 2020)----Great work by our Gloucester Township residents who utilized our GTPD Prescription Dropoff Boxes at our municipal building! We collected approximately 490 lbs of unwanted prescription drugs between July and September of this year.
Misuse of prescription opioids, CNS depressants, and stimulants is a serious public health problem in the United States. Although most people take prescription medications responsibly, in 2017, According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, an estimated 18 million people have misused such medications at least once in the past year.
We remind our doctors, pharmacists and residents that we collect medication 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week at our Medicine Drop Box located in the watch desk area at the police department and Mon-Thurs at the entrance to the municipal building, 1261 Chews Landing Rd. Gloucester Township, NJ 08021.
