Following the arrest of bomb suspect Dwayne Vandergrift Jr, CNBNews asked Gloucester City Police Lt. Steve Burkhardt a number of questions, such as;
The Gloucester City Police Department released the following statement this evening regarding their investigation into the explosion at the GCity Crossfit gym, also known as Bellum Strength and Conditioning, 512-514 S. Broadway early Wednesday morning.
On August 26, 2020 at 3:50 am officers responded to the 500 block of S. Broadway for a report of an explosion. When they arrived, they found the front entrance at Bellum Strength and Conditioning had been damaged by a suspected explosive device. The crime was investigated by the Gloucester City Police Detective Bureau and Patrol Division, as well as the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and F.B.I.The investigation culminated with the identification of a suspect, who was taken into custody earlier today at his residence in the 700 block of Powell Street. The 700 block of Powell Street was evacuated for a period of time until the suspect's residence was deemed safe from explosives and a search warrant as executed. At this time, Dwayne Vandergrift Jr. (35), is being charged with offenses for the explosive device placed and detonated at Bellum Strength and Conditioning as well as additional weapons and drug offenses. The investigation is still ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming. Vandergrift Jr. will be remanded to Camden County Jail pending a detention hearing.

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (August 28, 2020)--Gloucester City Police have a suspect in custody, according to a department spokesperson, Lt. Steve Burkhardt. The name of the individual has not been released.
Burkhardt said, "He is a resident of the 700 unit block of Powell Street. Detectives are still at his house executing a search warrant. The 700 unit block of Powell was evacuated for a time while the Bomb Squad cleared the residence for any explosives."
Burkhardt said, "I will provide more details ss soon as I am able."
Early Wednesday morning around 4 AM an explosion, of unknown origin, knocked out the front door of the GCityCrossfit Gym at 512-514 S. Broadway. The large glass windows on either side of the door were not damaged by the blast.
