Lower Township, NJ - On Friday, October 9, 2020, law enforcement officers will prove that the “Flame of Hope” is alive in well in the Garden State. Lower Township Police Officers will join approximately 70 other Cape May County Law Enforcement Officers in running the 25-mile 9th leg of the run from the Cape May Point Lighthouse starting at 08:00 a.m. ending at the Cape May County Police Academy in Cape May Court House at approximately 12:15 p.m.

During the 37th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey, more than 3,000 officers take to the streets of their local communities, split up into 26 separate legs with some starting as early as 4:45 a.m., and run to raise awareness for Screen Shot 2020-08-18 at 12.45.08Special Olympics New Jersey.

The Annual Torch Run typically precedes Special Olympics New Jersey’s Summer Games at The College of New Jersey in June. However, due to COVID-19 cancellations and postponements, the event was delayed until October.

Spectators are invited to watch and cheer as the flame makes its way through local communities across New Jersey. For maps or more information, visit www.NJTorchRun.org.
