New Pastor Appointments & Priest Assignments

Father Rene L. Canales, parochial vicar, Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood is named pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold.

Father Canales, 45, has been in ministry to Hispanic Catholics in Blackwood and the surrounding area since 2015. He also has been heavily involved with the Charismatic Renewal for many years.

Born in El Salvador, he came to the United States illegally when he was 16 years old. He worked on farms in Florida and kitchens in Atlantic City before beginning seminary studies at Saint Charles Borromeo, Philadelphia, in 1998. He was ordained May 20, 2006, in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Glassboro, by Bishop Joseph A. Galante.

He became a U.S. citizen on Feb. 21, 2019.

Father Canales has been parochial vicar at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Berlin; Saint Clare of Assisi, Gibbstown; and Saint Gabriel the Archangel, Carneys Point.

Father Vincent G. Guest, pastor, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold, is named pastor of Sacred Heart, Camden.

Father Guest, 60, has been pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold, since 2016. He previously served as pastor of the Parish of Holy Cross, Bridgeton, 2013-16, after serving as parochial vicar there for a year.

Born in Philadelphia, Father Guest studied at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Philadelphia; Temple University Law School; and the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government.

He was ordained May 19, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Glassboro, by Bishop Joseph A. Galante.

As a civil lawyer, he practiced immigration, family and housing law in South Jersey before becoming a priest.

Father Gerard C. Marable, pastor in Solidum, Sacred Heart, Camden, is named pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Galloway.

Father Marable, 64, has been ministering in Camden City parishes for 20 years. He was administrator and later pastor of both Saint Joan of Arc and Saint Bartholomew parishes. They were merged in 2010 to form Saint Josephine Bakhita in 2010, with Father Marable as pastor.

In 2017 Saint Josephine Bakhita merged with Sacred Heart, Camden, with Father Marable and Msgr. Michael Doyle as pastor in Solidum.

Born in Atlantic City, Father Marable studied at Xavier University, New Orleans, and Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, N.Y. He was ordained May 28, 1988, in Saint Joseph Pro-Cathedral, Camden, by Bishop George H. Guilfoyle.

He served as parochial vicar at Saint Stephen Parish, Pennsauken; Most Holy Redeemer, Westville Grove; Saint James, Ventor; and Saint Andrew, Gibbsboro. He also served as a chaplain at Saint Mary Catholic Home, Cherry Hill, and West Jersey Hospital, Voorhees.

Father Joseph A. DiMauro, OSFS from Parochial Vicar, Christ the King, Haddonfield to Outside the Diocese, effective July 15.

Father Peter P. Gallagher from Newly Ordained to Parochial Vicar, Holy Angels, Woodbury, effective July 15.

Father Wilson Kidangan Paulose from Part Time Parochial Vicar, Christ the Good Shepherd, Vineland and Part Time Chaplain, Inspira Medical Center, Elmer/Vineland and Salem County Memorial Hospital to Parochial Vicar, Saint Peter, Merchantville, effective July 15.

Father Francis D. Kim from Part Time Parochial Vicar, Holy Family Sewell to Part Time Parochial Vicar, Saint Rose of Lima, Haddon Heights, effective July 15. Father Kim continues as Part Time Chaplain, Saint Yi Yun Il Korean Catholic Mission, Cherry Hill.

Father John W. March from Newly Ordained to Parochial Vicar, Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood, effective July 15.

Father Thanh Q. Pham from Parochial Vicar, Christ the Redeemer, Atco to Parochial Vicar, Holy Family, Sewell, effective July 15.

Father J. Philip Ramos, AM from Part Time Parochial Vicar, Saint Simon Stock, Berlin to Part Time Campus Ministry, Stockton University, Effective July 15. Father Ramos continues as Part Time Director of Catholic Identity, Gloucester Catholic High School and In Residence, Saint Simon Stock, Berlin.

Father Jason T. Rocks is appointed Chancellor for the Diocese of Camden and Director of Pastoral Planning, effective July 15. Father Rocks continues as Priest Secretary to the Bishop, Adjutant Judicial Vicar and In Residence, Bishop’s Residence, Woodbury. Father Rocks will continue to assist at Infant Jesus Parish in Woodbury Heights.

Father Patrick Sieber, OFM from In Residence, Sacred Heart, Camden to Outside the Diocese, effective July 1.

Father Jose Thomas from Parochial Vicar, Saint Thomas, Brigantine to Outside the Diocese, effective June 24.

Father John D. Wasilewski from Medical Leave to Part Time Parochial Vicar, Christ the Good Shepherd, Vineland and Part Time Chaplain, Inspira Medical Center, Elmer/Vineland and Salem County Memorial Hospital, effective July 15.

Father Krzysztof Wtorek from Parochial Vicar, Sacred Heart, Camden to Parochial Vicar, Saint Thomas the Apostle, Brigantine, effective July 15.
