Wednesday, July 22, 2020
(Gloucester Township NJ)(July 22, 2020)--The Gloucester Township Police Department remembers Nico Cassabria, son of GTPD Telecommunicator Stephanie Cassabria, who lost his courageous battle with Neuroblastoma three years ago on this date, July 21.
Despite all adversity, 10 year old Nico touched the lives of so many people, not only the people around him but around the country. Nico taught us all a lesson in humility, compassion, and generosity. He embodied so many of the values that we as law enforcement strive to: most notably courage and compassion.
Gloucester Township Police K-9 Officer, Patrolman Joe Thomson, was so touched by Nico and knew how much he loved Police K9’s he named his K9 “Nico” to honor him. You can see K9 Nico next to the Nico Memorial at the park on State Street in the Blackwood Estates Development. K9 Nico is also pictured with Ptl. Thomson and Nico’s little sister, Ava.
