GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ--The “Block Flyer” Bicycles have quickly become popular among young kids, and are available in several cool colors, sizes, and PRICE. They have also become popular with thieves, too, as Gloucester Township Police patrols have taken several theft reports over the past weeks.
While taking these theft reports, our Patrol Officers are reporting that many victims DID NOT have their bike serial number recorded. Without the serial number, police can’t enter the specific bike into the computer system and/or locate the owner to return it.
Our advice to you: Take photos of your bike and serial number with your phone, and keep them on your iCloud or Google Photos! It’s very simple, only takes a moment, and can easily be accessed in the near future in the even the bicycle is stolen.
The majority of serial numbers are located under the bottom bracket where the two pedal cranks meet. Turn your bike upside down and snap a pic! If it’s not in that location, check other places around the frame of the bicycle. Take some pics of the full bike as well, so it can be easily identified by Officers out on the street.
