In Congress, my top three priorities are jobs, education and security, and back in Washington, I have been working tirelessly to support, pass and introduce legislation that hits all three of these boxes.
While the battle against this pandemic is still far from over, I am confident we will get through this unprecedented crisis, if we continue to work together and follow guidelines based on science. I will continue to fight to pass legislation that protects the health and safety of ALL Americans.
Today, I want to tell you about the key pieces of legislation the House of Representatives recently passed as we wait on the Senate to do their part and join us in voting yes to helping all Americans.
Rebuilding Our Country
Last week, I voted yes to H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act, a bill that significantly enhance and modernize American infrastructure, including schools, hospitals and transportation systems around the country.
This bill includes legislation that I introduced to reopen and rebuild America’s schools with a $130 million investment to ensure students and educators are safe & healthy at school each day.
Protecting Your Health Care
At the end of June, I voted to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act – legislation that builds on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to lower health costs and prescription drug prices.
This bill, which was voted on only days after the Trump Administration filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to strike down the entirety of the ACA, would protect families and workers during this unprecedented public health crisis.
On May 15, we passed the Heroes Act to provide relief to all Americans suffering from the pandemic, including essential workers, families and local businesses, and to expand testing and tracing resources to fight the disease and responsibly reopen our economy.
Now, almost two months later, I once again call on the Senate to act swiftly and pass this vital piece of legislation to help millions of Americans all across the country.
