The New Jersey Business Coalition, a group of more than 100 leading business and nonprofit groups throughout the state, issued the following statement following Gov. Phil Murphy's signing of Executive Order 158, temporarily pausing the resumption of indoor dining in New Jersey. "New Jersey business owners have said from the beginning of this crisis that they always put the health, safety and welfare of their workforce and their patrons first. The reopening of indoor dining at New Jersey restaurants is no exception. "While we respect the fact that other states are seeing a surge in COVID numbers, such a comparison, along with the concern of so-called "knuckleheads" not following the rules, is simply not a basis to pull back on New Jersey restaurant owners who are committed to doing the right thing. "In response to the Governor's original notice that indoor dining could commence on July 2 at 25% capacity,...

General Facts Northern pike are a very aggressive hard fighting coolwater species. They prefer relatively shallow weedy areas of lakes and slow moving rivers. There is a marked tendency for movement to deeper, cooler water during the summer when water temperatures are highest, especially for the larger fish. Although not as readily kept for eating as compared to other species, the flesh of the pike, albeit more bony, is very tasty and makes excellent fish cakes. Where Northern pike are relatively adaptable to a variety of waters in the northern half of the state, the most surprising of all being the Passaic River. Good fishable populations with fish up to 15 pounds are also present in Spruce Run Reservoir, Budd Lake (pdf, 260kb), Farrington Lake, Cranberry Lake, Pompton Lake, Deal Lake and Pompton River. Virtua Health physician offers advice for keeping healthy and cool during the pandemic (Marlton, N.J.) The summer brings heat, humidity, sweat — and this year, face masks on top of it all. With social distancing guidelines still in place, it’s important to continue protecting against the spread of COVID-19. Indeed, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends face coverings for all people age 2 and older who don’t have trouble breathing. Dr. Richard Levine, a family medicine physician at Virtua Primary Care—Cherry Hill offers these tips for staying safe and comfortable as the mercury rises: 1) Pick a mask made of a breathable material. Wearing a mask can make you feel like you’re suffocating. That’s because the air you exhale is at your body temperature, about 98 degrees Fahrenheit. But with a mask covering your mouth and nose, heat gets trapped inside. If you can’t breathe easily through...

Samantha Geisinger started this petition to Cape May County In Cape May County there are multiple "boulevards" connecting the mainland of New Jersey to its barrier islands (Stone Harbor, Avalon, Wildwood, North Wildwood, Sea Isle, Ocean City). The boulevards, filled with out-of-towners, have been featuring an unacceptable amount of dead turtles, crushed by the cars of those who would rather kill innocent animals than take a few seconds to help them across the street. This petition will be distrbuted to local municipalities in attempt to do a few things: 1. Increase signage on all boulevards to warn travelers of turtle crossing. 2. Allow citizens to report individuals for purposefully hitting turtles 3. Fine individuals who hit turtles (and have signs that make drivers aware of such fines) 4. Increase patrol of the boulevards for the weeks...
