[Rahway, New Jersey – May 26, 2020] – New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJ FMBA), which represents, protects, and educates Firefighters, EMTs, and Dispatchers across the State of New Jersey through representation at the local, state, and federal level endorsed today Brigid Callahan Harrison, Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s second congressional district.
The following is a statement from New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association President Ed Donnelly:
“Representing over 5,000 of New Jersey’s first responders, the most important aspect in receiving the FMBA’s endorsement is a commitment and understanding to keeping the communities we protect safe. With the reality of the fiscal crisis New Jersey will face due to this pandemic, now more than ever, we must bring leadership to DC and elect someone willing to fight to be sure Federal dollars make it back to New Jersey.
“At this time, we must send someone to Congress that does not require on the job training. Brigid has proactively asked to meet with FMBA members. She has listened to our concerns, our ideas, and has shown clear expertise on policy and legislation. Brigid has continued to address the COVID-19 pandemic – she has provided true policy solutions that will protect our members while keeping the residents of New Jersey safe.
“There is a reason Senator Booker has chosen to bracket and only run with Brigid – because she is the candidate that can beat Jeff Van Drew. We are proud and excited that our membership will be standing alongside both of them in the July primary.
“Brigid Callahan Harrison has earned our support by doing the work during this primary campaign. The NJ FMBA will now do our work to help her get through this primary successfully.”
