Local Police Arrest 37-Year-Old Sicklerville Man for Pointing a Loaded Handgun, Possession of CDS



GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (May 22, 2020)--Gloucester City Police, on May 15,  were dispatched to the area of Broadway and Chambers for a male pointing a handgun while inside of the vehicle.  An officer observed the suspect vehicle turning onto Bergen Street as the call was being dispatched.  A motor vehicle stop was 10906145_778939912176243_8086295575022335592_nconducted on Burlington and Somerset Streets.  Darrell Jenkins (37) of Sicklerville was placed under arrest after officers observed a fully loaded handgun and CDS inside of the vehicle.  There were also spent shell casings inside of the vehicle indicating it had been fired at some point.  Officers did recover crack cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana packaged for sale. 

In other matters, 

05/15 at 1018 the owner of a property on the 800 block of Bergen Street reported unknown suspect(s) entered the residence and stole all of the copper wiring.

05/15 at 1737 officers responded to the Dollar General for two females fighting inside of the store.  On arrival, one of the females had already left and the second female refused to sign any complaints.


05/15 at 2243 officers responded to the Budget Inn for a theft complaint.  The male caller advised them that “Samantha” stole his God of War wallet, credit cards and cash when he went into the bathroom to freshen up.

05/16 at 0121 officers responded to a residence on the 100 block of N. Broadway for two males fighting.  The two advised officers there were no issues.  They were just bored and decided to wrestle.

05/16 at 0232 officers responded to the 100 block of S. Burlington for a disturbance.  The male and female occupants were arguing loudly about items thrown around and the messy condition of the apartment.  An independent witness did confirm the story, but also advised officers that the apartment always looks like this so she wasn’t sure why they decided to argue about it now.

05/16 at 1147 officers responded to the Royal Farms for a theft complaint.  The male victim advised officers he stopped at the store and bought some lottery scratch off tickets.  While he was mid-scratch, the male fell asleep.  While he was napping, an unknown male suspect entered into the victim’s vehicle and stole the victim’s lottery tickets and wallet.

05/16 at 1209 a 59 y/o male from Philadelphia called regarding an assault.  The victim stated he was on the 300 block of S. Broadway when he observed a female, whom he found attractive, walking down the street.  As he was staring, he was pushed by a second female who then left the area.  The victim believes it may have been the mother of the first girl and his staring made her upset.  The females were no longer in the area and the victim did not wish to pursue the matter.

05/16 at 1323 a caller from the 100 block of S. Sussex Street wanted to report juveniles playing basketball behind the church.  The caller advised officers he wanted them to be the bad guys in this situation and shut them down.  They declined the offer.

05/17 at 1311 a resident of Sydwood Ave reported that he believed unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter his vehicle.  After a short conversation, the caller realized they were his own handprints due to the pollen that had fallen after he washed his vehicle the day before.

05/18 at 0210 a resident of Oxford Ave observed a male attempting to steal their vehicle.  When confronted, the suspect apologized and fled the area.  Approximately one hour later, the victim observed the suspect back in the area and advised police.  Jerome Lindsey (38) of Camden was arrested and charged with Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

05/18 at 2030 officers responded to the 500 block of Essex Street for an explosion.  On arrival, they learned that an area resident had decided to put a glass bottle into his fire pit to see what would happen.

05/19 at 0315 a resident of Market Street (the same one with the smelly bathroom from last week) called officers to report that her neighbor was trying to break into her apartment.  The caller was reminded that her neighbor was deceased and probably wasn’t trying to break in.

05/20 at 0741 officers responded to Route 130 in the area of the Annwood Ave for an unconscious female on the side of the road.  Officers located the female who stated she was waiting for her friend at the Budget Inn and must have just fallen asleep. 

05/20 at 0819 the same female that fell asleep called officers to report that she now felt like her friend poisoned her food in Wilmington, Delaware.  However, she didn’t feel sick until they arrived at the Budget Inn.  She was transported by EMS.

05/20 mat 2000 officers responded to a residence on Atlantic Street for a disturbance.  Upon entering the house, they observed a male holding down a second male who was being combative.  Officers separated the two, at which time the suspect began to resist officers and attempt to physically assault them.  He was handcuffed and removed from the residence.  The caller stated that the male was her cousin and believed he was under the influence of CDS.  He had come to the house uninvited, began talking to a spoon and directing traffic inside of the house.  David Andujar (47) of Camden was charged with Possession of CDS, Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest.  Officers located marijuana laced with PCP and a machete inside of his backpack.

05/21 at 0615 officers responded to the 700 block of Division Street for a disturbance.  The residents stated everything was fine.  They were just arguing over the fact that one of them was cooking eggs way too early in the morning and waking up the whole house.
