BELLMAWR, NJ (May 23, 2020)--Ian Smith, co-owner of The Atilis Gym,
Bellmawr released a video statement (see below) regarding their legal battle with the State of New Jersey. During the video Smith calls Murphy a "slime ball".
Yesterday, Friday, the state of New Jersey filed documents to shut the gym down. A judge granted the request.
The attorney for the gym owners will be filing a federal case against Gov. Murphy on Tuesday, May 26 claiming they have been robbed of due process and violated their constitutional rights. Courts are closed on Monday because of the holiday.
“We should, if all goes well, be open on Wednesday,” Smith said. “Hang tight, stay with us. We are in this for the long haul. It’s not about the battle, it’s about the war and we are definitely winning.”
Smith says until the matter is heard on Tuesday the gym will remain closed.
Fox's News Judge Andrew Napolitano referred to New Jersey gym owners as "American heroes and national treasure” after the gym owner refused to comply with stay-at-home orders in the Garden State. Napolitano, a former New Jersey Superior Court judge, said on "Fox & Friends" that the two men were right to resist the restrictions.
