Phil Murphy said at his Friday news conference. Child care centers, except for those approved to care for the children of essential workers, were closed on April 1 by the governor's executive order. They will reopen on June 16. All non-contact sports can resume on June 22. Murphy said that includes all youth sports, including those that are school sponsored. Summer day camps will begin on July 6. The governor said he will be announcing additional guidance but has not indicated if it will include nonessential retail or restaurants. It will include indoor worship services, Murphy said. “I anticipate being able to raise the limits on indoor gatherings in a way that will allow for greater indoor religious services for the weekend of June 12th,” the governor said. “We will continue working with our faith institutions to ensure our houses of worship are strong and safe.” Murphy also announced the first competitive horse races are scheduled for next weekend. Phil Murphy is headed for a vote by the State Assembly next week as lawmakers grapple with the economic effects of the novel Gloucestercitynews.net files coronavirus pandemic. The state is facing a $10 billion budget shortfall over the next two years, according to numbers from State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio. The state extended fiscal 2020 from June 30 to Sept. 30 and extended the income tax filing deadline to July 15. April tax collections that rely on income were down significantly in April. Route 42 Missing Moves project Advances (Trenton) NJ (May 31, 2020)-- – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures on I-295 northbound Monday night to establish a traffic shift as the I-295/Route 42 Missing Moves project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County. This work was originally scheduled for tonight but was rescheduled due to weather. Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, June 1, until 6 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, NJDOT’s contractor, South State Inc., is scheduled to close two lanes of I-295 northbound from approximately the Almonesson Road overpass to Essex Avenue to place construction barrier and restripe the road to implement a traffic shift. At least one lane will be maintained overnight. By Saturday morning, all three lanes of traffic will be reopened and shifted to the right with the left shoulder and right shoulders closed from Creek Road to Essex Avenue. MOORESTOWN, NJ (May 30, 2020)--The Moorestown Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, May 30 at approximately 12:30 am at the intersection of Rt. 38 and Pleasant Valley Ave. A NJ Transit bus was making a left turn from Rt. 38 westbound on to Pleasant Valley Ave. southbound when it was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling eastbound on Rt. 38. The NJ Transit driver and one passenger were transported to Cooper Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The three occupants of the passenger vehicle, two females and one male were deceased at the scene. Officers are in the process of determining the cause of the crash and attempting to identify and notify the families of the deceased. Richard Schirripa, a/k/a “the Mask Man,” a licensed pharmacist, is charged with violating the Defense Production Act by hoarding and price gouging scarce N95 masks; making two false statements to law enforcement; committing healthcare fraud; and committing aggravated identity theft. “At this time when our nation is battling the COVID-19 pandemic and we expect that our healthcare professionals are standing in solidarity with us, the defendant, Richard Schirripa, a licensed pharmacist, allegedly sought to capitalize and profit from the suffering of others. NEWARK, N.J. – The Justice Department today sued a Gloucesster County construction company for allegedly defrauding the United States by falsely claiming credit for using disadvantaged business entities, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced. C. Abbonizio Contractors Inc., a company based in Sewell, New Jersey, allegedly defrauded the government by claiming to use disadvantaged entities when those entities were not actually used to perform work. Companies performing federally funded work on New Jersey transportation projects sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) are required to utilize disadvantaged business entities (DBE) for a specified percentage of the work, and are required to certify their use of these entities. According to the complaint filed today in U.S. District Court: Abbonizio Contractors obtained a $39 million subcontract from PKF Mark III, the prime contractor on the Direct Connection Project, a federally funded reconfiguration of the interchanges of Routes I-295, I-76, and Route 42 in Camden County. PKF Mark III was required to perform 15 percent of the work with DBE contractors, and Abbonizio Contractors assumed that requirement as part of its subcontract. Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced that a 41-year-old Pemberton Township man has been sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey state prison for sexually assaulting a young girl last year. Erick Gentner, of the Browns Mills section of the township, must serve all 20 years before becoming eligible for parole. The sentence was handed down yesterday by the Hon. Gerard H. Breland, J.S.C. The proceeding was conducted through videoconferencing. Upon being released, Gentner will be subjected to parole supervision for life and also be placed on the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. In November, Gentner pled guilty to Aggravated Sexual Assault (First Degree) and Attempted Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement (Fourth Degree). Gentner was acquainted with his victim. It’s a phishing scam. If you click to “log in,” you could be giving your user name, password, or other personal information to scammers, while possibly downloading malware onto your device. DNREC to resume state park campground rentals June 1 The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will reopen its campgrounds in Delaware State Parks Monday in response to Governor John Carney’s removal of the emergency ban on short-term rental units starting June 1. The mandatory 14-day quarantine for out-of-state travelers will also be lifted Monday. Governor John Carney on Tuesday announced that the State of Delaware will lift the ban on short-term rental units and the quarantine on June 1 as part of the rolling reopening of Delaware’s economy. All state park campsites, cabins, cottages and yurts were temporarily closed from March 24 through May 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Route 42 Missing Moves project advances in Camden County Lane closures necessary to shift traffic (Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures on I-295 northbound tonight to establish a traffic shift as the I-295/Route 42 Missing Moves project advances in Bellmawr, Camden County. Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, May 29, until 6 a.m., Saturday, May 30, NJDOT’s contractor, South State Inc., is scheduled to close two lanes of I-295 northbound from approximately the Almonesson Road overpass to Essex Avenue to place construction barrier and restripe the road to implement a traffic shift. At least one lane will be maintained overnight. By Saturday morning, all three lanes of traffic will be reopened and shifted to the right with the left shoulder and right shoulders closed from Creek Road to Essex Avenue. Scientist Sentenced for Theft of Trade Secrets When scientist Hongjin Tan resigned from the Oklahoma petroleum company he’d worked at for 18 months, he told his superiors that he planned to return to China to care for his aging parents. He also reported that he hadn’t arranged his next job, so the company agreed to let him to stay in his role until his departure date in December 2018. But Tan told a colleague a different story over dinner. That conversation prompted Tan’s employer to ask him to leave the firm immediately—and then his employer made a call to the FBI tip line to report a possible crime. The resulting investigation led to Tan’s guilty plea and 24-month prison sentence for stealing proprietary information that belonged to his company. Born in Woodbury and raised in Brooklawn, she graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in 1963 and had lived in Pitman for the past 52 years. She was employed by Clearview Regional High School as the Secretary to the Vice Principal, where she was well liked by the faculty and students, and retired in February 2019. The President of Montclair State University notified the NJ DEP of the university’s intent to close the School and return the management of the property to the state, effective July 1, 2020. This could potentially result in permanent closure of the School of Conservation. NEWARK, N.J. – A Morris County, New Jersey, man today admitted maliciously calling in a bomb threat to a religious institution, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced. James Triano, 38, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, pleaded guilty by videoconference before U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty to an indictment charging him with maliciously conveying false information about an explosive. According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court: On March 21, 2017, Triano called a religious institution in Livingston, New Jersey. He told a representative of that institution there was a bomb located in the religious institution’s building that would explode in 30 minutes. Triano conveyed this information about the bomb knowing that it was false. The bomb threat resulted in a substantial disruption to the religious institution, as well as to the public. The count with which Triano has pleaded guilty is punishable by a maximum potential penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 30, 2020. On Friday, they announced their intent to join District Council 47 of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). By unionizing, organizers are hoping the museum, which is currently closed because of Covid-19, will prioritize worker and visitor safety and maintaining programs that serve the community as it works to recover from the financial fallout from the pandemic. Employees also want to unionize to empower staff who face incidents of harassment and discrimination. In January, the museum was criticized over its mishandling of previous misconduct allegations against a male manager, who resigned in 2018 and then went on to become the director of the Erie Art Museum.
