Contributions to support the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund and local hospitals
“We recognize the extraordinary needs facing our medical and first responder communities as a result of this global pandemic,” said Mike Renna, President and CEO, SJI. “We are proud to be able to make a contribution that directly supports the life-saving work being done in the communities we serve as we face this unprecedented pandemic together.”
The contribution includes a $50,000 donation to the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, established by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s wife, first lady Tammy Murphy. These funds will directly go towards fighting the medical, social and economic impacts of COVID-19 on New Jersey’s most vulnerable, supporting organizations that provide essential services and aiding those on the front line of the pandemic.
The commitment also includes $25,000 donations to the AtlantiCare Foundation and Trinitas Regional Medical Center. Both organizations are centrally located within the communities SJI serves through its regulated gas utility subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas.
“I salute SJI for its commitment and dedication to halting the spread of COVID-19 and protecting our community,” said Gary S. Horan, FACHE, President & CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center. “Swift, responsive and responsible leadership is what will help us manage and halt the pandemic. Thank you SJI for working with us to protect our frontline health workers and members of the general public who rely on Trinitas for care and treatment.”
Lori Herndon, RN, BSN, MBA, President and CEO, AtlantiCare stated, “AtlantiCare is inspired by the outpouring of support from our community during these unprecedented times. We are especially grateful for this most generous donation from SJI, an organization that shares our commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our friends and neighbors in southeastern New Jersey. Thank you for being there for us, and for the patients and other community members we will serve in these challenging times.”
