Letters to the Editor: Love and Gratitude

Dear Colleague and Friend,

We’re facing challenging times right now — every single one of us. And our industry is being greatly impacted. But in these toughest of times, we also recognize that we have a lot to be grateful for – including the people who will lead us to the brighter days ahead.

Giving Thanks Messages
“Last week, I asked VISIT PHILADELPHIA to develop a series of public service announcements, on behalf of our city, to thank the extraordinary Philadelphians on the front lines of this pandemic — the men and women working hard every day to heal, protect and comfort us,” said Mayor Jim Kenney. “This is a serious moment in history, and it’s important that these people know how much we appreciate them. I hope you’ll join me in sharing our love and gratitude for the heroes among us.”

In this first set of public service announcements, we thank doctors, nurses, first responders, cashiers, cleaning staffs and utility workers. Soon, we’ll recognize city employees, grocery store workers, mail carriers, sanitation workers and so many others, along with our friends in the tourism and hospitality industry — many of whom are out of work right now — for their tireless dedication to our region. They’re strong. They’re selfless. They’re heroes — our Philadelphia heroes.

We’re grateful to our many friends in the media – including NBC10, Philadelphia Gay News, Metro Chinese Weekly and others – who will help us spread these messages across the region. You’ll also see these ads all over social media too. Now, along with Mayor Kenney, we ask you to downloadand amplify these messages of love and gratitude on your channels with the hashtag #ThankYouPhilly.

To those reading this message, listening to Love + Grit, watching Philly Live Weekends or staying in touch on social: Thank you for standing with us. Friends, we are so proud to stand with you.

Governor Wolf and Mayor Kenney have asked us to stay at home, so we can all stay safe. Let’s do that, and know that we look forward to seeing you in-person again soon.
P.S.: If you’re able, please consider donating to the PHL COVID-19 Fund, created by the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Foundation and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
