Heart and Paw Remains Open

PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 2020) - In the midst of COVID19, many companies have closed their doors. However, Heart + Paw has remained open as an essential business, 6c22f1b9-44da-4c37-9083-177778c09312 offering veterinary care with a curbside drop off and no-touch policy. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, “veterinarians provide important animal and public health surveillance, deliver essential medical care for ill animals, and ensure that only healthy animals enter the food supply.” For more information on why veterinary practices are essential businesses during this time, click here. Heart + Paw is takingserious measures to guarantee the safety of the staff, pets and you.

During a curbside drop off, a Heart + Paw team member will meet clients at the front door or parking lot to safely escort each pet in for their visit. Heart + Paw team members are wearing masks for their own protection and are thoroughly washing their hands before coming to meet each client. Pet parents can wait nearby in the car or wherever most comfortable. There is also the option of leaving your pet and returning later for pick-up.

What clients can expect from Heart + Paw:

  • Safe pick-up and drop-off procedures

  • Fully sanitized exam rooms for your pet

  • Phone calls during your pet’s exam

  • Effective policy for “flattening the COVID-19” curve

“We’re doing everything possible to keep you, your pet, and our team members healthy during this uncertain time,” says Heart + Paw CEO Vincent Bradley. “Our veterinarians and support teams are here to make sure your pet gets all the medical attention they need.”

During a veterinary visit, the veterinary team will call clients from the exam room to talk through the exam with the pet. Once the exam is complete, the Heart + Paw team will meet clients at the door again with the pet along with any medications, instructions, or paperwork needed. Heart + Paw will only be performing tests and procedures that pet parents authorize.

Leading staff through this turbulent time is Chief Veterinary Officer, George Melillo. He is a leading veterinary expert in the field and is available to answer any questions via Skype call or phone calls. Here is an example. He can speak to the following topics:

  • Why and what vet care visits are more important than ever for your pet

  • Grooming your pet at home

  • How people being home and spending a lot of time with their pets could cause their pets anxiety and depression when they go back to work and school

  • Prevention plans for your pet

  • Risks of COVID-19 for pets
