CORONAVIRUS SPREADS TO 6876 CASES IN NJ, 81 DEATHS

The number of reported coronavirus cases in New Jersey has risen sharply: 2,492 more cases in only a day, plus 19 more deaths. A new report from researchers at Rutgers University-Camden estimates that hospitals in New Jersey will become overwhelmed in early April, with a shortage of 60,000 beds. And that's only if the state practices strict social distancing. If residents don't follow the new, statewide 4ef2ddad-68fe-4367-af9d-5f794a541b69"stay-at-home" law, and people choose to live with only a moderate level of distancing, then hospitals will be overwhelmed sooner — as early as next week — and our hospitals would be 190,000 beds short. (Note: the study didn't include future hospital beds, like these four field hospitals that will open soon.) And this graphic shows projections at the county level, based on how far apart we decide to stay from each other. (NJ Spotlight)
