HEPATITIS A CASES ARE SURGING IN NJ, SIX ARE NOW DEAD
Kudos to Lindy Washburn for this lede, which places an important fact about this outbreak — it's preventable — right up front. "An outbreak of hepatitis A, a serious disease preventable by vaccine, has hit New Jersey hard in recent months, leaving six people dead and more than 500 sickened," she writes. There is no medication for Hep A. The CDC says that in people with typical immune systems, it will typically resolve itself with enough rest. (The Record)
